Actor Heath Ledger found dead

This sucks. Just found out according to the Associated Press.

A New York Police Department spokesman says the actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence.

I'll update this entry as I get more info.

ETA: Apparently his housekeeper found him when she came in to tell him something - happened just a couple of hours ago.

My mother just called, she said she'd heard it on the radio and that *someone* is saying the housekeeper said something about finding pills ... but "they've been wrong before" although she didn't give context for that comment.

*sigh*
Last thing anyone needs is some new 'scandal' crap blowing around with them being wrong about the whole mess... again. :P

Oh no! According to IMDB, he was making a movie with Terry Gilliam. I bet filming isn't done on that, so Dark Knight is going to be his final film.

Very sad.

He tended to get really deep into his roles; I wonder if he got too messed up by playing a twisted psychopath (The Joker) recently?

Apparently, he had massive sleep issues after playing The Joker. He told the New York Times, shortly before his death, "Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night." Multiple sleeping pills were only keeping him asleep for an hour or two at a time, apparently. The dangers of being too good an actor.
