My second HP power supply shorted out in less than a year. Thankfully, still under warranty and replacement is on the way, but it's annoying as hell. This is one time when I'm glad they've got outsourced support (as much as I hate outsourcing) because I was able to get a replacement expedited to me and it'll be here in a couple of days. Sucks I won't be able to charge my iPod or download anything for a few days but I'll survive I guess.

It's not the end of the world, but as I told the person at HP - they really need to build more sturdy power supplies. This is the second replacement in six months and it's absolutely ridiculous I would need a replacement this soon. I didn't do anything differently and it completely shorted out with no visible wear and tear. I'm just glad it'll only be a few days.

Happy birthday to the most awesome [livejournal.com profile] littlelou!

Gordon Janssen of Port Orchard disappeared yesterday after dropping a group of exchange students off on a shopping trip in downtown Portland. He told the group he was going to go park in a local city park and take a nap. He never returned to pick them up.

There has been a ping on cell phone in the area of 407 Broadway in Portland it says his phone is within 1.4 miles of this tower.

The bus is a 1998 Neoplan Cityliner. It's 40 ft long and painted white with turquoise lettering and says Janssens Tours on the side.

If seen please call the Portland police or dial 911.

Please pass this on.
Comedian George Carlin has died of heart failure at age 71.

To me, this man will always be a legend. His power of observation and ability to see things in everyday society that we overlook are what kept him relevant.

Here's one of my favorite bits from him:

Ugh.

This is pissing me off. Client hasn't payed me for the work I did for her, and I'm scrambling trying to get money for necessities. At this point, it looks like it'll be Monday before I see any money.

I haven't eaten in two days, and haven't been able to get out to get to the store to get anything either.

I have no idea what I'm going to do. I really don't.
I've been having a lot of fun with the demo for Spore Creature Creator. So much so that I took the store credit I had left at Gamespot and used it to get the full version, which I should have at some point today.

I made a little short video using the creator, which features Youtube integration so you can upload short (around 2 minute) videos of your creatures right from the client. Pretty neat use of features, and all of the content for the game (races, etc) will be primarily user generated.

Mike Wieringo scholarship announced - this is awesome. Mike was a fantastic talent, and it's great to see his family furthering the

RIP Stan Winston - this is a man who pioneered a lot of the visual effects we see in movies nowadays. I liken his work a lot to some of the techniques guys like Ray Harryhausen used. He will definitely be missed.
Tim Russert dies suddenly of a heart attack at 58

While I may not always have agreed with him, he was actually pretty good on Meet The Press... especially his more recent interview with Barack Obama, which I particularly enjoyed.

He set a lot of landmarks in his 20+ years as a broadcaster. Definitely a talent that will be missed.

grr

Fuck.

I swear if it's not one thing it's another.

First I break my cellphone today, and now my glasses broke to the point they can't be repaired.

Even worse, I don't have any money at my disposal to get new glasses, so I'm kinda screwed.

I can see somewhat decently without them, but it's going to make it a pain to be able to do anything at all regarding making money.

It's a version of the 60s TV show reenacted by children. Pretty well done.

The player automatically plays all 3 parts.
