Saw Cloverfield today and really enjoyed it. As far as I'm concerned, it lived up to the hype. I can't say that about many movies I've seen lately (yes, I'm looking at you, Sweeney Todd.) but I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Finished up week #2 of school. Classes this quarter are Films in American Culture (which I am really enjoying), Introduction to PHP (also enjoying) and Psychology 101 (which I am supposed to start on monday but the school has a shortage of class materials so I'm having to wait).

Fairly easy classes so far. Oh, and for the good grades I got last quarter I made the college's President's List. I don't know if that's anything like the Dean's List, but I thought that was pretty cool.

Rough, long week though with various amounts of disappointment and odd drama regarding some online friends I'm trying to do my best to steer clear of.

Why would you even think Sweeney Todd would live up its the hype?

Based on reviews from friends who 'loved the movie' I guess I expected a lot more than I got.

That being said, I wasn't familiar with the original version of the story, but I figured since it was something being talked about, I figured I'd give it a look. Man, what a waste of time that was. Proves why I'm not a huge fan of musicals. Visually I thought the movie was a treat, but the lackluster songs and odd placement of them really dragged the movie down.

Burton and Depp are both becoming caricatures of themselves, IMHO. Seems to me that most people who "love their movies" are just loving being a fanboy for them, not loving the movie itself.

Harhar, Sweeney Todd. I wanted to see it only for Alan Rickman and since it was only for him, I can wait.

But I've heard nothing but awesome stuff about Cloverfield, so I may have to get off my ass for that one.

Yeah, President's List is pretty awesome. Haha, reminds me of when I was in kindergarten and made the Principal's List and thought it meant I was bad. I think I cried that day until someone explained it.
